What makes Dogs4Vets unique? Veterans train their OWN DOGS to become certified service dogs! Offering lifetime support and service dog training at no cost to the veteran, Dogs4Vets serves approximately 100 Arizona veterans each year, and in some cases, veterans relocate from across the country just to be a part of this proven program!
Due to the high cost of training and a long waiting list for a certified service dog, Gerad and Debbie Claseman decided they wanted to help a few veterans every year with service dog training. Gerad, a Navy veteran, jokingly says this “hobby” they started in 2005 may have gotten a little out of control! Dogs4Vets is now one of the largest programs of its kind in the country.
All Dogs4Vets’ trainers are certified animal behaviorists who want to give back to the military community. Many are disabled veterans themselves or are family members of disabled veterans. This team of dedicated professionals specializes in mobility assistance, seizure and diabetes alerts, traumatic brain injury, sexual trauma, Parkinson’s, PTSD, and psychological disorders, including night terrors, depression, and anxiety.
